A boat has been destroyed by fire off Snug in Tasmania’s south this morning.
Tasmania Fire Service crews responded to the blaze around 5:30am on Saturday, which was visible from shore as flames tore through the vessel’s hull.
Photos shared on social media showed the boat fully ablaze on the water, with black smoke billowing into the sky.
Local residents reported seeing police and salmon farm workers assisting with the response.
A smoke alert was issued just after 6am for Snug, Snug Falls and Snug Tiers, warning residents to limit their exposure.

That alert has since been lifted.
“There is no threat to the general public,” the fire service said in the alert.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
It is unclear whether anyone was on board at the time or if there were any injuries.
