Sorell causeway closed in both directions after two-vehicle crash

Updated 12:40pm, Thursday: One person has been taken to hospital with injuries after a crash on the Sorell causeway earlier today.

Police say their injuries are not believed to be serious.

The causeway is now open for Hobart-bound traffic, but remains closed to Sorell-bound motorists.

Earlier: Emergency services are responding to a two-vehicle crash that has forced the closure of the Sorell causeway.

Police closed the road between Sorell and Midway Point in both directions just before midday.

“Motorists are asked to avoid the area until the scene is cleared,” police said.

“At this stage details of injuries are not yet known.”
