A southern Tasmanian man has wasted no time embracing retirement after scoring $913,127 in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.
The Sorell resident, who held one of seven division one winning entries nationally in draw 4591 drawn Saturday 19 July, said he handed in his resignation immediately after discovering his win.
“We’ve been thinking about retiring, but this just speeds things up completely,” he said.
The man revealed the moment he broke the news to his wife across the table.

“As soon as I saw we’d won, I looked at my wife and just said, ‘I’m not going to work anymore!’. She thought I was joking,” he said.
The couple are now planning to upgrade their caravan and embark on a long-awaited road trip.

“We’ve been planning it for a while and now we can even upgrade our caravan too,” the winner said.
“We’re over the moon. We’re going to see a financial planner and get things sorted to set ourselves up and be able to live happily ever after!”
The winning 50-game QuickPick entry was purchased from Sorell Lotto Hub at Sorell Plaza.
Tasmania has now recorded 12 major lottery wins in 2025, with Tasmanian players collectively taking home more than $75.73 million in prize money.
The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4591 were 7, 42, 36, 17, 15 and 22, with supplementary numbers 34 and 9.
