Speeding drivers caught at Party in the Paddock as festival wraps up

Police caught four drivers speeding near Party in the Paddock yesterday but detected no drink or drug drivers as the four-day Carrick festival neared its end.

Officers conducted mobile and static operations in and around the Quercus Park site during the event.

The four drivers were clocked exceeding the reduced speed limit by at least 15km/h in a short period.

One driver was recorded travelling 26km/h over the limit during heavy rain.

“Our message is simple,” police said. “Always obey posted speed limits and drive to the conditions.

“Rain hail or shine, Tasmania Police will be on our roads to ensure people are doing the right thing.”

The festival wraps up today, with police conducting a large-scale random breath testing operation for motorists leaving the site.

Last year’s post-festival operation netted four drink drivers and 15 positive drug tests from 19 conducted.
