The Spirit of Tasmania will be visiting Hobart for the first time in over 20 years this month.
The Spirit II will undergo routine maintenance at Macquarie Wharf from July 18 to August 7, including deck and hull preservation, tank inspections, equipment maintenance and interior repairs.
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Bernard Dwyer said having the maintenance works done in Hobart presented another opportunity for Tasmanian companies to benefit.
“Our current Spirit of Tasmania vessels remain very highly regarded on the international ship market because of our rigorous schedule of maintenance,” he said.
“Tasmania has such a strong reputation for quality workmanship in the maritime sector and this lay-up provided the ideal opportunity for local companies maintain this iconic Tasmanian ship.”
While the Spirit II is in Hobart, twin ship Spirit of Tasmania I will be operating on a reduced schedule between Devonport and Geelong.
