Spirit of Tasmania has announced the addition of eight more day sailings to its schedule at the start of next year to meet the high demand for travel across the Bass Strait.

The sailings in January, February, April and May 2025 will “particularly benefit” those with caravans and tall vehicles.

Acting CEO Kym Sayers said it is anticipated that the vehicle waitlist will drop to below 100 by early next week.

“These extra sailings reflect our dedication to ensuring availability and responsive service for our passengers and freight partners,” she said.

“We’re constantly monitoring the situation and adjusting our schedule to meet both immediate and future demands.”

The additional capacity will also fill in for decreased freight services in the state when SeaRoad Shipping adjusts its schedule due to the dry docking of one of its vessels.

“Our teams across the business have been working tirelessly to make these swift adjustments,” Sayers said.

“We’re engaging with stakeholders to uncover further opportunities for assistance where possible.”
