A new shopping centre in Kingston has locked in most of its tenants ahead of its mid-2026 opening, with construction now at the halfway point.

Spring Farm Village, a now-$60 million retail development on the Channel Highway opposite Bunnings, is 85% pre-leased – with only a handful of shops still up for grabs.

Developer Tipalea Partners says the strong take-up shows how much the community is calling out for more convenient shopping options in one of Hobart’s fastest-growing areas.

“The demand we are seeing from retailers shows just how much this community is crying out for more convenience shopping,” James Brake, senior development manager at Tipalea Partners, said.

Coles will anchor Spring Farm Village

“These retailers have been quick to see our vision and the potential for Spring Farm Village, backed by the strong population growth of the surrounding catchment suburbs.”

The 7,000-square-metre centre will be anchored by a full-line Coles supermarket and Chemist Warehouse’s first superstore in the region.

Other confirmed tenants include Parthenon Souvlaki Bar, Sushi Sushi, RACT, Joe’s Fresh Meats, St Luke’s Dental and Spring Farm Medical.

The developer is also in advanced discussions with a cafe and a barber.

Contractor Fairbrother is progressing quickly on the base build and interior fit-outs.

Tenants are expected to receive their spaces for individual fit-outs early next year, with car park construction kicking off in January.

Tipalea Partners is the developer behind Spring Farm Village

Tipalea Partners CEO Scott Spanton said the centre’s catchment of roughly 60,000 people is forecast to grow by more than 10% over the next decade.

“The region is one of the fastest-growing in Hobart,” he said.

The development will include extended RV parking bays, seniors and parents-with-prams parking, EV charging stations, free Wi-Fi and motorcycle bays.

Tipalea says the project will create employment opportunities for more than 1,200 people.

The centre is now 85% pre-leased

The company has been investing in Tasmania for over 15 years and previously delivered retail centres in Howrah and Launceston.

It is also progressing the Devonport Stony Rise Village development, which received special parliamentary approval in November last year.

Spring Farm Village is expected to be completed by mid-2026.
