Catholic Education Tasmania will close St Patrick’s Child Care Centre in Latrobe at the end of this year.
The centre will shut its doors on December 24, 2025.
“After much reflection and with genuine care for the children, families and staff who are part of the centre, Catholic Education Tasmania has made the difficult decision to close St Patrick’s Child Care Centre at the end of this year,” the organisation said.
“The decision was made in alignment with Catholic Education Tasmania’s core mission of providing quality faith-based education for students from Kindergarten to Year 12.”
Catholic Education Tasmania acknowledged the centre’s importance to the local community, describing it as “a place of care, learning and friendship for many children, and a valued part of family life in the Latrobe community”.

“Every child and every family connected to the centre has been part of its story and its legacy will live on in the children who have grown here and in the care that has been shared over the years,” it said.
Staff at the centre are being supported through the transition process.
The closure will affect families who rely on the service for childcare in the Latrobe area, with parents now needing to secure alternative arrangements for 2026.
