Heavily armed police officers reportedly told Northern Midlands locals to stay inside as an incident unfolded in the area this evening.

Residents in Bishopsbourne, west of Longford, reported seeing more than a dozen police vehicles and a helicopter undertaking a search of the rural area on Monday night.

A Tasmania Police spokesperson told Pulse the search was launched following an alleged armed robbery at a home in Mole Creek earlier in the afternoon.

They said two people were arrested around 7pm as a result of the search.

”Around 3:50pm two people allegedly entered a residence at Mole Creek and threatened the occupants with what was reported to be a firearm in a targeted incident,” police said.

”One resident received minor injuries and the offenders allegedly left the scene in a vehicle.”

“Police thank people in Bishopsbourne for their patience while police were conducting the search.”
