TasNetworks crews were called to the scene and worked through the night to restore power to most affected homes by 6am Friday.

Authorities said the stolen car incident caused “limited access” to Franklin Street, with heavy vehicles and equipment occupying much of the road.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact Launceston Police on 131444 or report information anonymously to Crime Stoppers.
