Stolen firearms and cannabis found in Launceston police raid

A 51-year-old is to face court today after police allegedly found cannabis plants and three stolen firearms during a raid east of Launceston.

Officers from multiple units conducted a search of the rural property on Thursday as part of an ongoing investigation.

The Northern Drugs and Firearms Unit, Western Drugs and Firearms officers, Northern Criminal Investigation Division detectives and specialist resources were involved in the operation.

The man was arrested at the property and taken into custody without incident.

He now faces eight charges including possessing firearms and ammunition without proper licensing, aggravated assault, common assault and cultivating a controlled plant.

The man was held overnight and will appear in Launceston Magistrates Court this afternoon.
