Stolen motorbike seen with four riders and no helmets in dangerous joyride

Police are hunting for a stolen KTM RC390 motorbike after footage emerged showing four young people riding it dangerously without helmets on Hobart’s eastern shore.

The motorcycle, reported stolen on February 4, has been spotted multiple times in recent days being ridden in what police describe as “an extremely dangerous manner”.

Police have confirmed they are aware of video, first shared with Pulse, showing the bike carrying four people simultaneously around 2:15pm on Thursday, with none wearing proper safety gear.

A police spokesperson said the footage depicts numerous road violations including failure to wear helmets, carrying excessive passengers and operating without registration plates.

“Riding dangerously on public roads, especially without proper safety gear is reckless and puts lives at risk,” the spokesperson said.

“Police are committed to road safety and it’s imperative that the community help by taking responsibility for their own safety.”

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate both the stolen motorcycle and identify those involved.

The bright orange KTM RC390 is a distinctive sports bike with a top speed of approximately 180 km/h, making it particularly dangerous in inexperienced hands.

Police are urging anyone with information about the stolen bike, the identity of the riders, or additional footage of the dangerous riding to contact them on 131 444 quoting reference OR796460.
