The only manned petrol station in the West Coast town of Strahan is set get back up and running in early 2024.

The town has been without a manned petrol station since April when BP shut up shop for redevelopment, leaving just a single pump at the airport as only option for fuel.

Lowes Petroleum Tasmania, in partnership with BP, will reopen the service station to meet the growing tourism numbers in the area.

They say service stations are important for tourism and plan to continue to offer the existing mechanical workshop, fishing tackle and other retail goods alongside fuel in 2024.

The company is working with the West Coast Council and relevant authorities to install new dispensing technology and above-ground fuel tanks as quickly as possible.
