Dozens of Tasmanians who spotted the trail of bright lights in the night sky have taken to social media to question their strange spotting.

One Kingborough resident said she called Police to query the spotting, thinking she had seen a flare.
“It started like a star, then just got longer and stayed there for a minute before disappearing,” she said.
The new Starlink-76 (G5-5) will pass over the state again at 8:31 PM tonight.
