Streetscape works breathing new life into Campbell Town’s main street are continuing, with contractors now focused on completing upgrades around Valentine Park.
The Northern Midlands Council project, which started in mid-2025, has seen workers install new road base and kerbing along the main thoroughfare between William Street and King Street.
“We’re now preparing the footpath area ready for the new footpath to be laid next week,” the council said.
The Eliza Forlonge and Ram statue has been temporarily relocated to the bottom of nearby stairs to protect it during construction.

Weather permitting, contractors will pour the footpath outside Valentine Park and work on the road near the service station next week.
Day and night shifts are planned to keep the project on track.

The redevelopment includes widened footpaths on both sides of Main Street, additional outdoor seating, new landscaping and interpretation signage, relocated bus stops and upgraded parking areas and pedestrian crossings.
Council plans show parallel parking will replace angled parking in some areas, while a new traffic island with pedestrian access ramps will be installed.
A forecourt is being constructed outside Town Hall.
The works build on earlier streetscaping completed at the corner of Main Street and Queen Street.

Reduced speed limits remain in place through the work zone, with Tasmania Police now monitoring the site.
“Road users are again reminded that reduced speed limits are in place to protect the safety of road users and our workers,” the council said.
“Please slow down when travelling through the work area.”
