Strong winds and wet weather have caused significant delays for flights in and out of Hobart Airport this morning.
Virgin Australia flight VA1313 to Melbourne, scheduled to depart at 6:45am, has been delayed until an 2pm, the airline is estimating.
Jetstar flight JQ700 to Melbourne has also been delayed by around two and a half hours due to a late arrival, impacting other Jetstar services.
In Launceston, Virgin Australia flight VA1362 from Melbourne arrived over an hour late.
The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) recorded a peak gust of 76km/h at Hobart Airport at 9:26am, 83km/h at Launceston Airport at 6:29am and 70km/h at Devonport Airport at 9:15am.
The BOM has issued a severe weather warning for damaging winds in western and parts of southeastern, northeastern, northwestern and central north forecast districts.
“Another cold front that is currently located over northwestern Tasmania will shift rapidly towards the east this morning, producing another round of gusty conditions across the state today,” the BOM said.
“Damaging westerly winds averaging 60 to 70km/h with peak gusts around 100km/h are possible about western and northern coasts and nearby inland areas today.”
The BOM expects winds to gradually ease below severe thresholds overnight tonight.
Police are urging motorists to drive with caution as strong winds overnight may have caused unexpected debris on the roads.
