A stuck Metro bus shut the Channel Highway at Taroona this afternoon.
Traffic was blocked for nearly 40 minutes, while Police diverted small cars through a de-tour.
Several trucks and buses who were unable to fit through the detour were forced to sit and wait while Metro officials attempted to move the bus.
It is not yet understood how the bus got into the position it landed in.

The incident occurred just as school finished for the day at nearby Taroona Primary and Taroona High, with several school buses affected by the incident.
Dozens of young students could be seen standing on the footpath while their buses waited for the road to re-open.

A Metro spokesperson told Pulse there were no passengers on the bus at the time and that the driver was not injured.
“This was an unfortunate on road incident and Metro thanks other road users for their patience and apologizes for any delay or inconvenience experienced.”
