A busy street in the centre of Launceston has been closed this afternoon after a car burst into flames.
St John Street was closed between Cimitiere and Patterson Streets around 2pm.

The silver Subaru was parked outside Civic Square at the time of the incident, with firefighters seen rushing to extinguish the blaze.
It is unclear at this stage what caused the fire.
St John Street opened around 2:20pm.
