Tasmania’s motor racing scene is set to shift into high gear, thanks to a $6 million funding package that will keep major motorsport events at Symmons Plains Raceway on track for the next three years.
The multi-million-dollar investment includes $4.15 million to support Supercars events through 2027, ensuring fans can continue to enjoy world-class racing.
An additional $1.8 million will go towards vital safety upgrades and venue improvements.
Sports and Events Minister Nick Duigan said the upcoming Tasmania Super 440 in May is expected to “thrive” as a result.

“Without a doubt, these additions will enhance the spectator experience for the event,” he said.
“More than 20,000 interstate and international visitors are expected to attend over the next three years, providing substantial economic and social benefits to the state.”

Supercars CEO Shane Howard praised Tasmania’s passionate motorsport community and welcomed the government’s commitment.
“The support … has been crucial in ensuring we can continue delivering high-quality racing and entertainment for local fans and visitors to the region,” he said.
“We are thrilled to continue bringing Supercars racing to Symmons Plains for at least the next three years.”
Since 1995, more than one million fans have flocked to Symmons Plains for Supercars events.
