Auto parts giant Supercheap Auto is gearing up to open a seventh Tasmanian store, with plans underway for a new outlet in the heart of Kingston.
Retail developer Kalis Group has submitted a development application to transform part of a newly built retail space at 25–27 John Street into the latest Supercheap Auto store.
The site would be shared with neighbouring tenant Zap Fitness.
If approved, the new store would strengthen Supercheap Auto’s presence in southern Tasmania, adding to its existing outlets in Derwent Park, Cambridge and Rosny Park in Hobart, alongside locations in Launceston, Burnie and Devonport.

The proposed Kingston store would span 1,043 square metres, featuring a mix of retail space and back-of-house storage.
The site would offer 44 parking spaces, slightly fewer than required under the planning scheme, including two accessible bays, in a shared arrangement with the gym.

Traffic modelling estimates the new store would bring around 32 extra vehicle movements per hour during peak times, adding to the 558 cars that already travel along John Street each hour.
Kingborough Council has put the application out for public comment until June 3.
The development adds to a wave of growth in the area, following the recent start of construction at the nearby Spring Farm Village.
