Updated 11:20am, Friday January 26: The Tasman Highway near Scamander will stay closed for several hours after a crash between a car and truck.
One person has been airlifted to hospital with what are reported to be critical injuries.
Police say diversions are in place for southbound motorists at the intersection of Upper Scamander Road.
Northbound motorists are being turned around at the intersection of the Tasman and Esk highways at Foulmouth.
Earlier: The Tasman Highway near Scamander is blocked after a truck and a car collided this morning.
Emergency services closed the road, just north of the intersection with the Esk Highway, around 8am on Friday.
One person has been injured and will be airlifted to hospital.
Police say traffic is building in the area and have asked motorists to expect delays.
