Tasmania celebrates top tourism businesses at 2024 TICT Awards Gala

The Tasmanian tourism industry celebrated its best and brightest at the 2024 Tourism Industry Council Tasmania (TICT) Awards Gala on Friday night.

A total of 78 finalists competed for the prestigious Gold Medals across 25 categories, with 27 businesses ultimately taking home the top prize.

The Gold Award winners will now represent Tasmania at the national Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Adelaide in March 2025.

TICT CEO Amy Hills said the mood in the room was “full of optimism” at the event.

Tasmania’s Taste of Summer won in the Major Festivals & Events category

“It is truly impressive seeing the work and determination that goes into producing an awards submission,” she said.

“The Gala was the perfect way to celebrate this and the people that make our visitor economy one of the best in the world.”

Port Arthur Historic Site won best Major Tourist Attraction

Among the winners were Port Arthur Historic Site for Major Tourist Attractions, Emu Valley Rhododendron Garden for Tourist Attractions and Tasmania’s Taste of Summer for Major Festivals & Events.

wukalina Walk won the award for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Tourism Experience, while Launceston Visitor Information Centre took home the prize for Visitor Information Services and Tasmanian Mountain Bike Adventures won in the Adventure Tourism category.

The award for Tourism Restaurants & Catering Services went to Grain of the Silos, while Bangor Vineyard Shed won the Tourism Wineries, Distilleries & Breweries category and The Cove Tasmania was recognised for Excellence in Accessible Tourism.

The Gustav Weindorfer Award for New Tourism Business was awarded to Red Rock Hut, while The Unconformity received the Chair of Judges’ Award for Positive Impact Tourism and Truffle Farm won the Excellence in Food Tourism Award.

Maria Island Cruises won the People’s Choice Award

Maria Island Cruises won the People’s Choice Award and Emily Elmer was named the Tourism Minister’s Young Achiever Award recipient, while Tim & Jane Parsons from Curringa Farm were honoured with the Tasmanian Tourism Champion Award.
