The departing head of the Richmond Football Club will become the inaugural CEO of the Tasmania Devils.
Brendon Gale, from Penguin, will leave his role with the Tigers at the end of the year after over a decade as CEO.
He will start in the Tasmania Football Club role in early 2025.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said “we can’t wait to have him home”.
“Brendon Gale knows firsthand what it takes to wear the Map. And to build premiership-winning culture from the ground up,” Rockliff said.
Tasmania Football Club Chair Grant O’Brien said the appointment was an enormous vote of confidence in the club.
“Not only have we got a highly successful and proven AFL club CEO, we have also tempted home a proud son of Tasmania,” he said.
“Brendon grew up on the North-West Coast of Tasmania and before his incredible 244-game career at AFL level, he played his early football for Burnie Hawks and represented Tasmanian four times.”
The Tasmania Devils will officially announce Gale’s appointment on Friday afternoon.
