The Tasmania Devils have unveiled their inaugural VFL playing jumper design

The Tasmania Devils have revealed their first-ever playing jumper as the club prepares to enter the VFL and VFLW this year.

The design features a prominent Devils head as its centrepiece, symbolising power and Tasmanian spirit.

Two horizontal lines sit on the jumper, representing the club’s men’s and women’s teams and the members who support them.

The phrase “Honouring The Map – Inspiring The Future” is printed inside the neckline, honouring the traditional Tasmanian map seen on jumpers throughout the state’s AFL history.

This jumper is separate from AFL guernseys to be unveiled before 2028

The map itself however does not appear on the jumper.

Tasmania Football Club chief executive Brendon Gale said the launch was a significant moment for the club.

“We are looking forward to our men and women running out in this new kit that is a great blend of our past and our future,” he said.

“We are thankful for the fan feedback in designing the strip.”

“There is a lot of thought in the elements incorporated into the design which we know are meaningful for our athletes and hopefully our fans too.”

Gale said the jumper would debut in coming weeks when the VFL and VFLW seasons begin.

“Over the course of our journey we will have many guernseys that will take the field,” he said.

“Alongside our Foundation Jumper it is great to launch this one today.”

The men’s side will take the field for the first time in a premiership match when they host Coburg at North Hobart Oval on March 21.

It will mark the return of VFL football to Tasmania for the first time since 2008.

The women’s team opens its inaugural VFLW season on May 16 against Casey Demons, also at North Hobart Oval.

This jumper is separate from the AFL and AFLW guernseys, which will be unveiled before the Devils enter those competitions in 2028.
