Tasmania Police are warning of a potential driveway scam operating in the state’s north.

Scammers have been reported operating in groups, offering discounted driveway repairs and roof painting services to businesses and residents.

Police say in some cases, despite the business or resident declining the offer, the scammers have completed the work using intimidation tactics and providing what appears to be a legitimate business card or invoice.

The warning follows the seizure of a stolen bobcat and trailer linked to the group in Sheffield by Latrobe police.

Following the seizure, police received a report of the group undertaking work in Railton.

Police are now urging people to be cautious of unsolicited approaches and to contact police immediately if they feel unsafe or threatened.

“Anyone who has been scammed online or has received a scam attempt can report the incident to scamwatch.gov.au.”
