Tasmania has experienced a scorching start to the week, with parts of the state sweltering through a 36.5-degree day.
Temperatures soared above 30 degrees across much of the state on Monday, with Low Rocky Point in the state’s southwest reaching the highest at 36.5C.
Grove in the Huon Valley was a close second at 34 degrees, followed by Bushy Park at 33.3 degrees.
King Island Airport and Ouse both reached 33.2 degrees, while Hobart recorded a high of 32.9 degrees.
Campania reached 32.8 degrees, Strahan 32.5 degrees and Cape Bruny 30.8 degrees.
Launceston got to 29.1 degrees and Devonport Airport 24.8 degrees.
The Bureau of Meteorology said the hot conditions were due to a strong and warm northerly airstream.
A cold front is expected to move across the state later tonight, bringing showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds.
