Bushwalkers are being warned of hazardous snow conditions expected to hit parts of Tasmania over the next few days.
The Bureau of Meteorology say snow is predicted to fall as low as 700 metres on Thursday morning, particularly around the Central Highlands area, and could reach around 400 metres by Thursday evening and Friday morning.
A Tasmania Police spokesperson said bushwalkers need to ensure they are aware of the conditions.
“If you do go bushwalking, you need to make sure you are properly prepared with equipment and experienced for the snow, wind and unusually cold conditions predicted,” the spokesperson said.
They said it is also important to tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back.
The cold front is expected to bring a cold southwesterly stream in the evening, with a high moving over the state on Friday and a weak cold front approaching from the west on Sunday.
