Two reckless drivers in have been caught speeding at well over 100km/h in the Central Highlands over the weekend.
A motorcyclist was clocked at 151km/h in a 100km/h zone, more than 50% over the speed limit.
The rider was slapped with a four-month licence disqualification and a $1,161 fine.
Meanwhile, another driver was caught speeding at 133km/h in a 100km/h zone.
The driver, who was reportedly on good behaviour for previous driving offences, received five demerit points and a $606 fine.
Police say the driver will likely lose their licence.
Officers on patrol in the Central Highlands also reported stopping six other drivers for speeding in built-up residential areas within Miena and Bothwell over a three-hour period.
“Remember speeding puts not only your life at risk, but the lives of other road users and pedestrians as well,” a Tasmania Police spokesperson said.
“Police … will continue to target this type of offending and could be anywhere at any time.”
