A snake catcher in Tasmania’s Northern Midlands has been called to an unusual rescue mission this week after a Tasmanian Devil was found hiding in someone’s bathroom.
Liv Dykstra described Tuesday morning’s catch as “unreal and unbelievable”.
“It’s been a quieter season for me as I’ve tried to steer clear of catching apart from around my local area,” Dykstra wrote.
“But this morning’s catch was unreal and unbelievable.”

The Devil was spotted by a local who had left their back door open overnight so their dogs could go to the toilet.
The Midlands resident said their dogs had been acting strangely for 20 minutes, growling and on edge, before the Tassie Devil was spotted running behind them on the toilet.

“It’s now locked in there and looks in really healthy condition so I need someone to come and get it,” they posted to a Carrick and Hagley community Facebook group.
Snake catcher Dykstra responded to the post, telling the resident she was able to catch “other critters” as well as snakes and would come right over.
The Devil was successfully captured and released it back into the wild.
