A Launceston man starring on the latest season of Married At First Sight has opened up about his experience on the reality show.
Entrepreneur and professional golfer Clint Rice, who was born and bred in Launceston, joined the social experiment as an intruder just two weeks after applying.
Speaking to Chilli FM breakfast hosts Adam and Issy this morning, Rice said he had been in serious relationships before but had never been married.
“I feel like I’ve always been in a relationship, but it’s never worked out for me,” the 43-year-old said.

“So I thought why not put it in the hands of the experts.”
Rice said there was only two weeks between when he applied for the show and when he was flown to Sydney to get married.

“I was sitting there on the couch going, oh, the auditions came up and I was like, why not send in an audition?”
“The next morning a producer called me and said, ‘Hey, we got your application. Can we talk to you this afternoon on Zoom?'” he said.
“So I jumped on and they’re like, ‘We want you on the show. But the thing is you’re going to be in Sydney getting married in two weeks.'”
“I flew to Sydney end of August, got married and yeah, it all just unfolded from there,” he said.

Rice said he was “relieved” to see the first episode air on Tuesday night after a “long road in”.
“It’s like you do all the filming, no one knows what’s going on and then you’re just waiting for it to all unfold,” he said.

“And then even I don’t really know what’s going to happen.”
He said the editing process can be sneaky and that he has noticed some of his answers and comments on the show don’t match what he remembers happening.
“I spoke to Loz [Lauren Hall] and we had a chat last night after the episode … and we’re like, ‘oh, we don’t remember that happening like that, like that’s different.'”
Rice said he was happy with how he came across in the first episode and was relieved to have avoided the drama that has surrounded some of the other cast members.

He also gave some insight into the infamous dinner parties, saying the food is “cold” and “not great”.
“There’s vegetables, potatoes, salad and you either get a chicken or a fish that comes around.”
“It’s so secondary because there’s so much drama happening and everyone’s yelling and screaming like absolute animals. The dinner parties are wild.”
Leaks on Tuesday revealed that Rice had reportedly found love with a fellow cast member, despite being matched with a different person on the show.
