Travellers passing through Launceston Airport will have a new dining option from today, with local healthy food chain Liv Eat opening in the departure lounge ahead of the busy school holiday period.
The Tasmanian brand is serving up its signature warm bowls, burritos and smoothies to passengers, along with locally roasted coffee, as the airport prepares to welcome more than 60,000 travellers over the next two weeks.
Airport bosses are expecting passenger numbers to jump 3% compared to last year’s school holidays.
The final Sunday on July 20 is tipped to be the busiest day, with over 4,400 people moving through the terminal.

Airport CEO Shane O’Hare said the move was about giving passengers something more than standard airport fare.
“Passengers expect more than just generic ‘airport food’ when they travel these days,” he said.

“We want to give passengers a true taste of Tasmania when they fly through Launceston Airport and Liv Eat delivers that.”
The Liv Eat opening begins what the airport is calling its biggest food overhaul ever, with plans for Gatty’s Bar, Kanamaluka café and an expanded retail store in the coming months.
Liv Eat co-founders Chris Button and Troy Sutcliffe said the airport outlet featured a brand-new design tailored specifically for the terminal environment.
“This exciting launch has been made possible through our valued partnership with SSP, who have worked tirelessly to train and develop a team of passionate Launceston locals.”
The expansion marks significant growth for the Tasmanian brand, which now has terminal locations at Launceston, Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney airports.
