Independent MPs Kristy Johnston and David O’Byrne have agreed to provide confidence and supply to the Tasmanian Liberal Government, led by Premier Jeremy Rockliff.
Both agreements are documented in a series of letters, released by the Premier on Wednesday.
They allow the independents the right to support future no-confidence motions on merit in cases of corruption or gross mismanagement, but both will have to inform the Premier before they do so.
The agreement also allows the independents to vote on legislation based on merit and increases their access to departmental staff.
The Premier has also agreed to remove ‘Dorothy Dixer’ questions and to provide additional resources for all independent MPs.
“I thank both Members for their goodwill and constructive input which have been in the interests of ensuring the stability and certainty Tasmanians desire and deserve,” Rockliff said.
“I also again acknowledge and welcome the positive engagement undertaken by the JLN Members in ensuring this Parliament works with efficiency, accountability and transparency in the best interests of their constituents and the entire state.”
