13 candidates will contest the 2025 Tasmanian Legislative Council elections across three divisions, with voting to take place on Saturday May 24.
The Tasmanian Electoral Commission on Friday announced the candidates for Montgomery, Nelson and Pembroke divisions, where more than 78,000 Tasmanians are required to vote.
Montgomery has attracted the most candidates with five contenders including Liberal Stephen Parry, Casey Hiscutt, Darren Briggs representing the Greens, Gatty Burnett and Adrian Pickin for the Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party.
Nelson will see a three-way contest between Liberal candidate Marcus Vermey, Greens representative Nathan Volf and independent incumbent Meg Webb.
In Pembroke, five candidates will battle for the seat, including Labor’s Luke Edmunds, the Greens’ Carly Allen, independents Allison Ritchie and Steve Loring and Tony Mulder.
Early voting options will be available from Monday for the nearly 30,000 Montgomery voters, more than 25,000 Nelson electors and over 23,000 registered in Pembroke.
All eligible voters will receive an information pack next week containing candidate details and voting information.
