Tasmanian Liberal politician Guy Barnett found himself in an awkward situation after being caught on CCTV staging an entire photoshoot on a Launceston resident’s front porch, all while she wasn’t home.
The Prospect resident shared the footage from her video doorbell on TikTok, asking the state MP if ‘he got the shot’.
“When the local politician decides to have a photo shoot on your front porch while he is delivering brochures,” the video caption read.
In a statement to Pulse, Lyons MP Guy Barnett said he was pleased to have people see him at work.
“I’m very happy to have people see me doing my job – knocking on doors and talking to the great people of Lyons about doing the things that matter for them,” he said.
In the CCTV footage, the MP was standing outside the home for nearly a minute while his assistant tried several different angles for the photo.
Barnett could be heard asking for his assistant to “come a bit closer”, taking multiple shots before walking away.
The image taken was posted to Barnett’s public Facebook page last week, showing him standing at the closed door.
“Door knocking in Prospect, do you have any queries or questions please feel free to let me know,” the post read.
