A Tasmanian man and woman have been charged after allegedly carrying out three armed robberies across Victoria in under an hour on Sunday night.

Victoria Police allege the 29-year-old man threatened staff and customers with a knife at three separate locations in Ballarat East, while his alleged accomplice waited in a getaway car.

The spree began about 7:15pm when the man allegedly entered a service station on Main Road in Golden Point and threatened a staff member with a knife before stealing cash.

He then allegedly targeted a nearby laundromat, threatening two women and a child before fleeing with money.

A short time later, the final robbery occurred at a bottle shop, where the man allegedly threatened staff and stole cash and alcohol.

Police allege a 27-year-old woman drove the man to and from each location.

Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit detectives tracked down the pair in Chewton on Tuesday and arrested them.

The man, from George Town in Tasmania, was charged with armed robbery, theft, false imprisonment and possessing a prohibited weapon.

The woman, also from George Town, was charged with armed robbery, theft and possessing a prohibited weapon.

Both were remanded in custody and appeared in the Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
