Premier Jeremy Rockliff praised Hiscutt’s contribution to both her electorate and parliament since her election in 2013.

“Having been elected in 2013 to the seat of Montgomery in the Legislative Council, Leonie has spent the last decade fighting for and championing her region,” Rockliff said.

Hiscutt has served as Leader of Government Business in the Legislative Council since 2017, managing the often complex political dynamics of Tasmania’s Upper House.

“Leonie has been an outstanding Leader – managing the complexities that we often find in the Upper House with grace and at all times engaging respectfully with her colleagues,” the Premier said.

“Being the local member has always been her priority. As she often said: ‘it’s the small things that make the position worthwhile, working behind the scenes and taking care of the individual’.”
