Inmates at Risdon Prison will enjoy a traditional Christmas Day menu complete with roast turkey and Christmas pudding today.
Pulse can reveal the Tasmania Prison Service’s Christmas Day menu for inmates, with a spread that includes morning and evening meals alongside a full festive lunch.
Prisoners will start their Christmas Day with a cooked breakfast featuring plain omelette, grilled bacon, mushrooms and tomato, accompanied by fruit salad and multigrain bread.
The main Christmas lunch follows tradition with roast pork and turkey served with seasonal vegetables including roast pumpkin, carrots, beans and potato.

The meal comes complete with gravy and cranberry sauce, followed by fruit mince pie and fresh fruit.
For the evening meal, inmates will receive a simpler offering of ham with mustard, lettuce, pasta salad and multigrain bread, finished with Christmas pudding and custard for dessert.

While prisoners will enjoy the special menu, the Tasmania Prison Service confirmed that no visits will be facilitated at any prison facilities on Christmas Day.
