The gaming machines will be permanently switched off on Friday, marking the end of an era in the state.

The RSL say they’ll shift to focusing on promoting live music in place of the gambling machines.

RSL Tasmania CEO, John Hardy, acknowledged the positive response the club has received since the announcement.

Hardy says its important for RSL clubs providing spaces for live music, as they not only serve as a valuable source of income for the branches but also ‘foster a sense of community engagement’.

Independent ex-servicemen’s clubs that don’t fall under the control of RSL Tasmania, including the Dover RSL, may still have the machines.
