The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Chorus is preparing for a prestigious international tour to the United Kingdom, featuring performances at some of Britain’s most iconic musical venues.
During a whirlwind tour next month, the 60-strong chorus will perform at Birmingham’s renowned Symphony Hall and have the honour of singing at Westminster Abbey on Anzac Day.
Chorusmaster Warren Trevelyan-Jones, who spent nearly a decade as a Tenor Lay Vicar with Westminster Abbey’s world-renowned choir, described the opportunity as thrilling.
He said opportunities such as this don’t come along very often.

“The Abbey is a building of huge significance, not only as a place of worship but as a national symbol and a centre of cultural heritage,” he said.
“It has been pivotal to the narrative of British history and identity.”

At the Abbey, the chorus will perform a special 30-minute program welcoming guests.
The tour will also feature a performance with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and solo concerts at the historic Gloucester Cathedral and Worcester Cathedral.
Before departing for the UK, the chorus will perform with acclaimed organist Calvin Bowman at the newly renovated St John’s Church in Launceston this Saturday.
