A Tasmanian diner filled with memorabilia and antiques straight out of 1950s America has closed down.

Deloraine’s “Cruzin in the 50’s Diner” took to social media on Friday night to share the sudden news with their “amazing customers”.

“We have tried our best but unfortunately, due to staff shortages, we have had to close our doors,” owners said.

“We would like to thank all our valued customers for their past patronage. Please note it is also a very sad time for management and existing staff who have worked so well under these circumstances.”

Locals and visitors expressed shock at the news and hope a solution can be reached.

“Any retirees who would like to volunteer (for free) and work the diner for nostalgia?” one person said.

“I absolutely adore your diner and my family and I have been coming to you on and off for more than 13 years. I really love your space, menu, food… absolutely everything,” another wrote.

The space includes various items from years gone by, previously featuring a 1936 Ford coupe and 1951 Ford F100 pickup truck parked in the corner of the restaurant.
