JCP Youth, a Launceston-based youth charity, has received a grant of $10,000 from the MyState Foundation to help reduce the waiting list for their BEAST mentorship program.

The program provides mentorship to young people aged between 11 and 17 years old, aiming to build their resilience and help them avoid the criminal justice system.

The grant will allow JCP Youth to increase the capacity of the program, which currently has a waitlist.

MyState CEO Brett Morgan praised the work of JCP Youth, stating that the grant is “exactly what the MyState Foundation grants are all about, giving young Tasmanians greater opportunities.”

JCP Executive Director Will Smith expressed his excitement about the grant, saying that the BEAST program is designed to inspire and empower young people to become the best version of themselves.

MyState Foundation granted a total of $155,000 to 18 organisations across Tasmania, with charities receiving between $3,000 and $10,000 for programs helping young people. M

yState Foundation Chair Bob Gordon said the grants would be welcome relief for many organisations and the young Tasmanians they support, particularly at a time when many charitable organisations are experiencing both an increase in demand and a decrease in donations.
