A major Tasmanian music festival has been thrown a lifeline, with the Liberals promising to secure its future for the next two years if re-elected.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff will today announce a $1.5 million funding package for Party in the Paddock.
The festival has grown significantly over the years, expanding from three to four days.
More than 12,000 people flocked to Quercus Park earlier this year, with over 10% travelling from interstate or overseas. Half of all festivalgoers were aged between 18 and 25.

“Party in the Paddock is a home-grown festival started by a handful of mates who have worked hard to deliver what has become Tasmania’s premier music festival,” Rockliff said.
“Events like this draw visitors from all over Tasmania and interstate and provide a huge boost to our tourism and hospitality sectors.”

Vibestown director and festival organiser Ryan Limb welcomed the promise, saying it comes at a tough time for the live events industry.
“Securing this funding means the future of Party In The Paddock is safe at a time when so many festivals around the country are under threat,” Limb said.
“Government support is absolutely critical to keeping the music and arts alive, especially in regional areas.”
The festival has built a reputation for showcasing local talent alongside national and international acts in a uniquely Tasmanian setting.
The funding package will secure the event to 2027. It includes $500,000 for fire system upgrades at Quercus Park, which also hosts the rural Agfest event.
