Tasmania’s annual Gin-uary festival is set to return to Hobart’s Princes Wharf 1 this month, showcasing the state’s thriving spirits industry.
The eighth edition of the festival will be held over two days, January 18th and 19th, and will feature more than 30 local and regional distillers.
Organiser Nicole Fisher said the festival has expanded beyond just gin in recent years to include a wide range of Tasmanian spirits, with this year’s event set to have the widest range yet.
“Gin-uary gives Tasmanian distillers national exposure and offers local and interstate consumers the opportunity to sample a huge variety of well-known, as well as brand new and exclusive, Tasmanian spirits,” she said.
“It’s a great way to kick off the new year and celebrate the state’s world-class spirits industry.”
Attendees will have the chance to meet distillers and taste their creations across three four-hour sessions, with tickets starting at $75.
Dina Gregson, founder of Tasmanian Tonic Co, is sponsoring the event for a third year and said it plays a vital role in the local spirits industry.
“As a proudly Tasmanian family-owned business, we are always eager to support other Tasmanian products,” she said.
“Gin-uary is a crucial event for the Tasmanian spirits industry and it’s fantastic to see so many local distillers coming together to showcase their products.”
Several distillers will be launching exclusive products at the event, including Sandy Gray, who will unveil their Director’s Reserve Gin and Aquae Vitae.
Island Coast Spirits will offer tastings from their range of gins, including Juniper and Butterfly Pea Flower Gin, as well as their vodka line, butterscotch schnapps and ready-to-drink cocktails.
