TasNetworks said 98.5% of affected customers had power restored within 48 hours.

Most remaining outages are expected to be fixed by Monday or Tuesday.

“Our first priority has been restoring power to areas with the largest number of impacted customers, and we’ve now shifted our focus to the more isolated and complex outages,” CEO Sean McGoldrick said.

The largest remaining outage affects 384 customers across Cressy, Longford, Poatina and Powranna.

TasNetworks said the cause is under investigation, with restoration times expected to be confirmed on Sunday afternoon.

Eight outage areas remain in the north, affecting about 434 customers, while another five areas in the north-west have left roughly 106 customers without supply.

McGoldrick acknowledged the frustration for those still waiting.

“We know how difficult it is to be without power for any length of time, particularly for extended periods and we want to sincerely thank our customers for their patience, understanding and resilience during this time,” he said.

He said improvements made after last year’s storms had helped speed up this weekend’s response.

“We’ve introduced a number of new processes based on past learnings, including better coordination across teams and streamlined communication with customers,” he said.

“These changes have made a real difference in our ability to respond quickly and effectively during this event.”
