Tassie comedian produces theme song for Turbochooks AFL team

Tasmanian comedian Dan Taylor is taking the initiative to propose a theme song for the new Tasmanian AFL team, which he thinks should be named the ‘Tassie Turbochooks’.

The idea comes as locals suggest alternative names for the team, including the ‘Pademelons’ and ‘Tassie Devils’, with the Devils being the current winner.

However, Taylor believes that the ‘Turbochooks’ name would best represent the team and their state, given the native Tasmanian hens’ reputation for their speed.

Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff has already ruled out the ‘Turbochooks’ name, while 7 Tasmania weather reporter Peter Murphy has thrown his support behind the name on live TV.

Tasmania was officially granted an AFL license last week, after decades of unsuccessful attempts to enter the league.

On Monday, Warner Bros confirmed they would permit the use of the ‘Tassie Devils’ name, which they own the right to, for a Tasmanian AFL team – clearing up days of legal debate.
