He will assume the Chair position at the end of November, after serving on TasWater’s board since 2019.

“We’re confident Kevin is the perfect Chair to lead TasWater in the next phase of its journey to unlock water’s full potential for a thriving Tasmania,” Chief Owners’ Representative Wayne Johnston said.

Young said he was excited to take up the role.

“It’s an exciting time to be taking on the role of Chair at TasWater as we have recently endorsed a bold and ambitious strategy for the next phase of the organisation’s growth,” he said.

“I’m passionate about the future of the state and the role our organisation can have in delivering great community, environmental and economic outcomes for Tasmania.”

Gumley, who has held the position since 2018, will retire next month after a “challenging yet rewarding” tenure.

“I’m particularly proud to have led the organisation through the completion of the Bryn Estyn Water Treatment Plant, TasWater’s largest capital project to date on time and on budget and the beginning of the Selfs Point Sewer Transformation Project,” he said.
