A 15-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly attacking a woman with a stick in West Launceston last night.
The incident occurred around 6:15pm, when an off-duty police officer stepped in and apprehended the teen, who is accused of beating the woman with a stick.
The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Launceston General Hospital for treatment.
Tasmania Police say the boy was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with wounding.

He was held in custody overnight and is expected to face the Youth Justice Division of the Launceston Magistrates Court today.
Police have not released details about what may have prompted the alleged attack or whether the victim and the accused were known to each other.
