Two teenage P-platers have been caught driving at extreme speeds on the Brooker Highway, with one 17-year-old clocked at 166km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Police say they detected the teenager travelling 66km/h over the limit at Claremont last week.
An 18-year-old P2 licence holder was also nabbed doing 140km/h in an 80km/h zone at Montrose – 60km/h over the limit.
The 18-year-old was given a four-month licence disqualification and a $1,178.75 fine.
Inspector Jason Klug said the high-speed incidents were “extremely disappointing”.

“The consequences for such reckless driving behaviour can be catastrophic,” Klug said.
“To those speeding drivers I say, just think of the damage you could have done to yourself and to other road users and the devastation that would cause to families.”
He said emergency service workers also experience trauma from road fatalities.
“Slow down, we don’t want our officers to have to knock on your loved ones’ door to deliver tragic news,” he said.
The teens were among four drivers caught in last week’s crackdown in the Glenorchy area.
A 28-year-old man was detected at 137km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Brooker Highway at Claremont.
When police intercepted him, he allegedly returned a positive breath test with a reading of 0.139.
A 29-year-old with a suspended licence was also caught doing 128km/h in an 80km/h zone on Goodwood Road at Goodwood.
