A 16-year-old learner driver will face court after a member of the public dobbed them in for hooning in Hobart’s northern suburbs.
The L-plater was caught on dashcam driving dangerously along Lennox Avenue in Lutana on November 19.
A concerned witness reported the incident to police, providing footage that helped officers track down the teenager.
Police have since clamped the vehicle for 28 days and the young driver will be summonsed to appear in court.
Acting Inspector Penny Reardon said the case showed the power of community reporting.

“Road safety is everyone’s responsibility and we urge anyone with information about hooning or reckless driving to contact police,” she said.
She said dangerous drivers could face serious consequences.
“Those who engage in such dangerous behaviour on our streets will be investigated and can face significant penalties including their vehicle being clamped, seized or confiscated,” she said.
“Tasmania Police will continue to have zero tolerance for dangerous hooning behaviour.”
The incident forms part of the force’s ongoing ‘Enough is Enough’ campaign, which encourages Tasmanians to help identify dangerous driving in their communities.
Police say dashcam and mobile phone footage has become a valuable tool in catching offenders who might otherwise escape detection.
