Teenage boy charged after another teen hospitalised with facial injuries

A teenage boy has been charged over an alleged assault in Wynyard that left another teenager with serious facial injuries.

Police were called to the disturbance involving four teenagers, including two 17-year-olds and two 15-year-olds, around 12:20am on Sunday December 29.

One of the 17-year-olds was taken to the North West Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after an “altercation” between the youths.

The alleged offender, a 15-year-old boy, presented himself to the Burnie Police Station on January 2 and has since been charged with Criminal Code Assault.

He will appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court at a later date.

All four teenagers involved were known to each other, police said.
